KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics Kathy Beauregard are pleased to announce the hiring of Nathan Robinson as assistant women's tennis coach.
"I am extremely excited to add Nathan to our staff," WMU second year head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "He comes from a staff and program that were the NCAA Runner-Ups. His experience at Oklahoma State over the past couple of seasons will pay dividends for our student-athletes. He is an up and coming coach that has a lot of passion for the game."
Robinson, an Aston, Oklahoma native, served as a volunteer assistant coach at Oklahoma State for the past two years, where he helped lead the Cowgirl women's tennis squad to an incredible 29-5 overall record, a perfect 9-0 in the Big 12 and finished the season as the NCAA Runner-ups. They also set an NCAA record by going 34-1 in doubles points.
"I am really excited to get started with the team," Robinson said. "I want to continue to help this program and achieve our goals. I am very thankful for the opportunity from Coach Tomlinson and Western Michigan University."
Robinson graduated from Oklahoma State in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in sport management. While in his undergrad at Oklahoma State, he helped out with tennis programs wherever needed and became a teaching pro at a local club in the area. He also served as the Director of Junior Tennis at Shadow Valley Country Club in Rogers, Arkansas. Robinson served as the head tennis coach at Stillwater High School for two seasons, where he graduated 100-percent of his student-athletes.
