KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan men's soccer program improved to 4-0-0 on the season with a dominating 6-0 victory over visiting IUPUI, Monday, Sept. 5 at the WMU Soccer Complex.
Five different Broncos found the back of the net in the victory. Junior midfielder
Brandon Bye totaled five points in the match, assisting WMU's first goal and also scoring a goal of his own in each half.
How it happened:
Western Michigan tallied four goals in the first half and added two more in the second. In the 23rd minute, Bye beat his defender pulling down a ball over the top and played back into sophomore
Nathan Hoover in the right side of the box. Hoover buried his first career goal far post.
Bye and Hoover traded roles for WMU's second goal in the 27th minute, this time Hoover setting up Bye. Hoover served in an excellent cross from the left and Bye finished with a diving header in front of his defender.
In the 39th minute, first-year Bronco and Bradley transfer
Tommy Clark played a corner from the left and found redshirt freshman center back
Alex Ruddock for a backside header. It was also Ruddock's first career goal.
The Broncos added a fourth goal before halftime, in the 43rd minute. Sophomore
Cameron Sipple headed a clear ball at center field back into IUPUI territory and
Dzenan Nezirevic ran on for a breakaway, slotting his shot to the right of IUPUI's keeper.
Bye notched his second goal of the game and his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the second half, heading in a throw in from
Josh Whitaker in the 60th minute.
Senior
Diego Lopez tallied WMU's sixth and final goal of the game in the 88th minute, drilling a shot from just outside the left side of the box into the far back corner of the net. Clark and Sipple each recorded their second assists of the game on the play.

Drew Shepherd made two incredible saves and three all together. In the 72nd minute, Shepherd turned away a penalty kick, diving to his right and batting away the ball. Two minutes later, Shepherd came up with another huge diving save. It was the Broncos' third shutout of the season.
