KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The 2016-17 Western Michigan baseball recruiting class was ranked second in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's annual evaluation of NCAA Division I baseball classes. The Broncos were ranked No. 75 overall, as Arizona State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Arizona and Auburn were the top-five, respectively.
"Anytime we get praise for our recruiting class I like to divert the attention to our recruiting coordinator Adam Piotrowicz and our associate head coach Blaine McFerrin," head coach Billy Gernon said. "Although we all have a big part in cultivating talent, Adam and Blaine work tirelessly towards identifying the guys that make our locker room a better place. Their fingerprints are all over our recent MAC Tournament title and it's clear we continue to land higher level athletes that are very conscientious academically."
WMU was tabbed one spot behind Kent State, two spots ahead of Central Michigan, 12 ahead of Ball State and 25 ahead of Bowling Green. The Broncos were also placed ahead of several B1G schools, including Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Illinois, Purdue, Maryland and Ohio State.
