CLEVELAND – Fresh off her record-breaking performance, senior Kaitlyn Watkins was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week on Thursday.
Watkins broke the individual 54-hole low record after shooting a final score of 214 (-2) to finish runner-up at the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Tuesday, using a final-round of 69 to push her way into the history books. Her score also contributed to the team breaking the program 54-hole low record, combining for a final total of 885 (+2) and a third-place finish.
Watkins led the tournament in par 4 scoring at -7 over the three rounds and was also tied for third in birdies with 10.
The WMU golf team is back in action on Saturday and Sunday in East Lansing, Mich., at the 33rd annual Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Course.
