CLEVELAND – Western Michigan women's soccer senior forward Mackenzie Barber has been named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in WMU's wins over Loyola Chicago and Valparaiso over the weekend.
Barber played a key role in four of the five goals scored by the Broncos in the two games. Against the Ramblers she netted her first career goal to give Western Michigan a 1-0 lead. She followed that up by setting up Candice Uhl's game-winning goal.
In Sunday's game against the Crusaders she netted a goal to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead and then sealed the win with a goal just 3:27 into the first overtime period. With her help Western Michigan has matched its best start in program history through seven games at 6-1-0.
The Broncos are back in action on Friday at 4 p.m. when they host DePaul for their annual "Fill the Farm" game. WMU Soccer merchandise will be on sale and the first 50 kids will receive a "Fill the Farm" t-shirt.
