BALTIMORE – Western Michigan senior quarterback
Zach Terrell has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Watch List by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation. Terrell is one of 43 players to be named to the watch list and just one of four players in the Mid-American Conference.
Terrell has achieved notoriety this summer, being ranked as the No. 12 most efficient QB nationally according to
NFL.com. He ranked seventh in the FBS last season in quarterback efficiency and was 10
th in accuracy, completing 67.0 percent of his passes (262-of-391). He finished the year with a career-high 3,526 passing yards including 297 yards and two touchdowns in the team's first bowl win over Middle Tennessee State.
Terrell enters 2016 as the fifth ranked QB among active players in completion percentage with a mark of 63.9 percent. He is also ranked eighth among active players in career efficiency with a mark of 150.25. Last season he showed the ability to put up big numbers against elite competition as he threw for a season-high 365 yards and two TDs against No. 4 Michigan State in Waldo Stadium.
Named after one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and established in 1987, this prestigious award is presented annually at the end of each season to the nation's top college quarterback based on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic accomplishments. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class.
