KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's cross country team announced its full schedule that features six meets before the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships including the well-known WMU/George Dales Invitational this Friday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. at Pine View Golf Club in Three Rivers, Mich.
"We have put together a very challenging schedule just like we try to every year," head coach Kelly Lycan said. "We are aspiring to be a top-10 team in our region and these meets will prepare us for the tough Great Lakes Regional."
Following the lone home meet, the Broncos will head to East Lansing, Mich., to take part in the Spartan Invitational and end the month of Sept. by competing in the Notre Dame Invitational. To open October, WMU will travel to Hillsdale College to run in the Michigan Intercollegiates and will head to Terra Haute, Ind. on Oct. 15 to battle in the extremely competitive Pre-National Invitational. The final meet before the MAC Championships on Oct. 29 will come on Oct. 21 with the EMU Fall Classic.
"The Spartan Invite will be a good race and the Notre Dame Invitational is always extremely competitive with anywhere from 10-15 ranked teams competing," Lycan said. "The Pre-National meet is another big one, it features some of the best teams in the country."
WMU also competed in the George Dales Invitational, Notre Dame Invitational, Michigan Intercollegiates and the Pre-National Invitational last season.
