CLEVELAND – Western Michigan women's soccer senior forward Candice Uhl has been named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week after her performance in wins over Northern Illinois and Miami.
Uhl, who holds a cumulative GPA of 3.75 in accountancy, netted the game-winners in both of WMU's wins. On Thursday she scored in the 85th minute to beat Northern Illinois, 2-1. The win secured home-field advantage for the Broncos in the MAC Quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals she scored in the game-winning goal early in the 8th minute as Western Michigan blanked Miami, 1-0. Her goal on Sunday sent WMU to the MAC Semifinals for the fourth consecutive season. She now has four game-winning goals on the season.
Western Michigan plays Northern Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. at Kent State in the MAC Semifinals.
