TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The bracket-format tournament features 12 games over three days. The teams compete once per day, advancing with a victory. The two teams that remain undefeated will face off in the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 20. All games will be broadcast on either ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN3.

Teams participating in the tournament include 2016 NCAA National Champion Villanova, as well as Boise State, Charleston, Mississippi State, UCF, UTEP, Wake Forest and Western Michigan. The Broncos will face the defending national champs in the opening game of the classic, taking on Villanova at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 on ESPN2. WMU is slated to face either Wake Forest or UTEP on Friday (1:30 p.m./3:30p.m.).

ONE OF A KIND
Western Michigan is the only Division I program to participate in all five of the ESPN owned college basketball tournaments, traveling to Orlando (Old Spice Classic, 2006), Charleston (Charleston Classic, 2008), Honolulu (Diamond Classic, 2009), Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Tip-Off, 2011) and Anaheim (Wooden Legacy, 2013) under head coach Steve Hawkins, who is entering his 14th season. WMU made its first appearance at the Charleston Classic in 2008, playing TCU, Hofstra and SIU-Edwardsville.

SERIES HISTORY VS. VILLANOVA
This will be the first meeting between Western Michigan and Villanova.

SERIES HISTORY VS. WAKE FOREST / UTEP
Following Thursday's contest, the Broncos will face either Wake Forest or UTEP. Friday's game will be the first meeting for Western Michigan against the Demon Deacons or the Miners.

LOOKING AHEAD AT THE REST OF THE FIELD
Depending on the results of the other bracket, WMU will face either Charleston, Boise State, Mississippi State or UCF on Sunday, Nov. 20.

If the Broncos face Charleston, it will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams. Western Michigan is undefeated against the Cougars holding a 3-0 record all under WMU head coach Steve Hawkins. The last meeting occurred in Dec. 2009 as the Broncos took an exciting 66-63 victory.

The Western Michigan Broncos hold a 1-1 record against the Boise State Broncos. This would be the first meeting for WMU with Steve Hawkins at the helm. The last time the Broncos faced one another was in December of 1991 as the Boise State Broncos took an 80-64 victory.

Western Michigan has faced Mississippi State only one time in its program history dating back to 1934, with the Broncos taking the 29-27 OT victory.

It will be the first meeting between Western Michigan and University of Central Florida.

LOOKING BACK AT MARYGROVE WIN
Four players scored in double figures for the Brown & Gold and two players registered double-doubles as the Broncos kicked off the season with a 90-74 win against Marygrove, Friday, Nov. 11.

> Senior Tucker Haymond totaled a game-high 20 points and had five assists. Junior Drake LaMont registered 14 points and 11 rebound and freshman Brandon Johnson also had a double-double, playing his first collegiate game, with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Thomas Wilder was the fourth Bronco to score in double digits with 12.

BRONCOS TRIPPED UP AT OAKLAND
Western Michigan played its first road game of the season this past Monday, Nov. 14, and fell to a tough Oakland squad, 77-60. Oakland, who led by four at the break, used a big second half to pull away from WMU, where it outscored the Brown & Gold 47-34.

> Sophomore Seth Dugan was all over the glass, grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds with six coming on the offensive end. He also finished with nine points. Junior Thomas Wilder had a team-high 13 points while senior Tucker Haymond and freshman Brandon Johnson each had 12. Johnson was very efficient from the floor, going 6-for-8 and adding a pair of dunks. Freshman Jarrin Randall chipped in eight points and hit two of the Broncos' three 3-pointers.
