"We are really looking forward to racing at the Great Lakes Regional Championships on Friday," associate head coach
Taryn Sheehan said. "There is really a challenge this time of year to have seven healthy women on the starting line but this group is running really well right now. The ladies have improved each week and they are in a good position to run fast. Wisconsin is a challenging course but we are excited and prepared to tackle it. The region is extremely competitive this year and we are ready to see how we match up."
The team finished eighth at the 2016 MAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, but the Broncos were without two of their top-two runners in
Maria McDaniel and
Claire Gilbert. Much like it has been all season, junior
Hanne Christensen led the team while sophomore
Sarah Anderson finished in second on the Broncos. Christensen placed 16th with a time of 21:51.8 while Anderson was right behind in 19th place with a time of 21:58.4. Senior
Daya Wagh (38th), freshman
Holly Blowers (71st) and senior
Amy Littlefield (72nd) rounded out WMU's top-five runners. Freshmen
Kirstin McGahan (88th),
Haley Ritsema (96th) and
Sydney Del Valle (102nd) all finished the race as well. Blowers also set a PR time of 23:22.8.
WMU would need a top-two finish to guarantee a spot at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19. Follow the links attached to this article to see live results.
