KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan quarterback
Zach Terrell has been named a 2016 Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist, given to the nation's top quarterback, the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee announced today. Terrell is one of 18 semifinalists across the country to be named. He is the only quarterback in the MAC to earn the honor.
This season, Terrell is fourth in the country in passing efficiency, fifth in completion percentage, sixth in yards per pass attempt and 12
th in passing TDs. He surpassed the 11,000 passing yard mark for his career on Tuesday night against Kent State. He currently has 11,016 yards, third most in Western Michigan history.
Terrell was the last starting quarterback in the country this season to throw an interception. He currently owns the best TD-INT ratio in the nation with 23 TDs compared to just one interception. His 11,016 yards are the third most among all active QBs, while his 86 career TD passes are second most among active QBs.
Along with the Davey O'Brien Award, Terrell is also up for the Manning Award, Wuerrfel Trophy, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and CFPA Award. He has already been named as a member of the 2016 AFCA Good Works Team and is a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and a finalist for the NFF Campbell Trophy.
