KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's tennis will compete in its second tournament of the season as the team hosts the Bronco Invitational, a three-day tournament starting on Friday, Oct. 7 and running through Sunday, Oct. 9. The tournament will be at Sorensen Courts (Outdoor) or West Hills Athletic Club (Indoor), depending on weather.

"We are excited about playing at home for the first time this season," second year head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "We've had a couple of weeks to work on some things from our last tournament that hopefully we can implement in our matches this weekend. The bottom line in the fall is we just keep trying to get better with each match that we play."
Teams competing this weekend along with the Broncos are Chicago State, Green Bay, IUPUI, Lewis University, Oakland and Valparaiso. The Bronco Invitational will get started on Friday at 1 p.m. with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. On Saturday, the teams are planning on starting around 10 a.m. with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles while Sunday will conclude with one round of singles starting at 10 a.m. Again, all times are dependent on weather.
The Broncos opened their season on Sept. 16 as the team traveled in the Hoosier Classic finishing with a 9-6 overall record in doubles and a 14-10 record in singles. Senior Barbare Eristavi went 3-0 in singles play while six others went 2-1 in seniors Meika Ashby and Tracy Kuhle, junior Olivia Myers and sophomores Katja Fevralev and Denise Azcui.
In doubles play, freshman Gabriela Slavova went 3-0 in doubles play while playing two matches with Kuhle and one with sophomore Melina Lyubomirova. The team of Ashby/Eristavi is 3-1 this season, leading the team in wins.
