Last weekend at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational, junior Hanne Christensen led way with an 11th place while setting a new personal record time of 17:34.4. In the Women's Gold 5K race, sophomore Sarah Anderson, senior Daya Wagh, senior Amy Littlefield and freshman Haley Ritsema rounded out the Broncos top-five. Anderson, Ritsema, sophomore Makenzie Evers and freshman Abigail Shaver all set PR's in the race. In the Open 5K race, freshman Sydney Del Valle, sophomore Emily Davis and freshman Mattie Goodwin all set PR times.
"We're looking forward to continue to progress that we've been building on for the past month or so," associate head coach Taryn Sheehan said. "We had a good step forward with some of our runners at Notre Dame last week with so many PR's. We want to continue to work on being competitive and working as a pack and working together. Since we aren't running the full squad this weekend, it will give a lot of runners a chance to step up in a good race environment against some of the best cross country runners in the state of Michigan."
Following the Michigan Intercollegiate, the Broncos will head to the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15 in Terre Haute, Ind., the same course where the NCAA Championships will be run.
