"The team is really looking forward to competing at the MAC Championships this weekend," associate head coach Taryn Sheehan said. "Championship events are always about competitiveness and coming together as a team. The nine women lining up this weekend have not all been on the starting line at the same time since September, so we are really excited to see what they can do collectively."
Junior Hanne Christensen and sophomore Sarah Anderson have consistently finished in the top two spots on the team in the races they have competed in. Anderson finished second on the team in last year's meet with a 20th place finish while Christensen finished fourth with a 29th place finish. Other runners in the MAC Championships this season will be seniors Amy Littlefield and Daya Wagh, sophomore Makenzie Evers and freshmen Holly Blowers, Sydney Del Valle, Kirsten McGahan and Haley Ritsema.
"This is a special group of women and they are really focused on the process," Sheehan added. "Hanne and Sarah have been running well this Fall, but I also believe we are going to see a number of other individuals step up and rise to the occasion on Saturday."
The women's 6K race will start at 11 a.m. at the Kent State University Golf Course with the men's race to follow shortly after at Noon. Follow the link on the side to get all the information need for this weekend's race, including live results, directions and the course map.
