KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer program (8-4-4, 0-0-3 MAC) has two regular season conference matchups remaining before the 2016 Mid-American Conference Tournament begins. The Broncos continue MAC play this Saturday, Oct. 29, welcoming West Virginia. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex and admission is free.
Saturday's game against West Virginia will also be Senior Day honoring

LAST TIME OUT
In its last outing, Western Michigan tied MAC foe Buffalo, 1-1, on the road, Friday, Oct. 21. The Broncos were the first to get on the board as freshman
Anthony Bowie tallied his second career goal off an assist by senior
Edu Jimenez in the 66th minute. Reigning MAC Player of the Year Russell Cicerone salvaged the tie for Buffalo, scoring the game equalizer with 52 seconds in regulation. Both defenses held strong for the final two 10-minute overtime stanzas and the game ended in the 1-1 draw. Â The Broncos are 0-0-3 in conference play this season, also tying Northern Illinois (0-0) and Bowling Green (1-1).
EXTRA PLAY
In its last seven matches, dating back to Sept. 27, Western Michigan has gone into overtime six times and five of those have gone into double overtime. The Broncos are 1-0-4 in double overtime games and 0-1 when the game has been decided in one extra period of play.
ON THE ATTACK
Six Broncos have recorded more than one goal this year and 11 different Broncos have found the back of the net in 2016. Junior
Brandon Bye leads the team with 21 points off eight goals and five assists placing him second in the MAC behind Buffalo's Russell Cicerone (30 points). Jimenez has dished out five assists for the Broncos this season and 21 during his Western Michigan career, moving him into the top five all-time at WMU for career assists.
SERIES HISTORY
Joining in 2011, West Virginia is an affiliate member of the MAC in men's soccer. In the four all-time meetings against the Mountaineers, the Broncos have recorded two draws and will be looking for their first win on Saturday against WVU.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Following a 3-1 road upset at No. 22 Akron on Saturday, Oct. 22, and a non-conference victory 1-0 at Penn on Tuesday, Oct. 25, the Mountaineers improve to 8-5-1 overall and 1-0-2 in the conference. WVU sits in fifth place in conference standings in front of Northern Illinois (0-2-1 MAC). West Virginia is undefeated on the road during the 2016 season (3-0-0) while give up just one goal and scoring five in those three games.
WVU has outscored its opponent this year 16-9 with nine different Mountaineers scoring goals. Two different players lead the team with nine points this season including senior Felix Angerer with three goals and three assists and junior Jad Arslan notching four goals and one assist. West Virginia goalkeeper Jose Santos has started and played in all 14 games between the pipes this season while holding a 0.63 goals against average.

"West Virginia is a very good team, they come into Kalamazoo in good form flying with tons of confidence," commented WMU head coach
Chad Wiseman. "We have played extremely well in all three conference matches. We need to continue our play and tweak a couple things for Saturday. These conference matches have been competitive and intense this season and I expect much of the same against WVU."
MAC PLAY REMAINING
Following Saturday's match, Western Michigan has one game left in the 2016 regular season. The Broncos return to the road, traveling to Akron on Saturday, Nov. 5. The game against the Zips is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. The 2016 MAC Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 11 & 13.
