KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team is all set to host the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Invitational this weekend from Friday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 30 at West Hills Athletic Club.

The MAC Invitational will be the team's second home invitational this fall, as well as the team's last action until dual match season starts mid-January. Other teams participating this weekend are all the MAC's counterparts, Ball State, Binghamton, Buffalo, Northern Illinois and Toledo. Play will start at 1 p.m. on Friday and around 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Three rounds of doubles will be played on Friday, two rounds of singles on Saturday and one final round of singles on Sunday.
The Broncos competed at the ITA Midwest Regionals last weekend in Columbus, Ohio, where junior Maik Steiner made it to the Round of 16 in the Main Draw. In doubles play, both duos of junior Billy Heckman/sophomore Nick Schnobel and Steiner/freshman Jannik Opitz made the Round of 16.
Sophomore Eric Olivarez and Opitz are tied for the team lead in wins with nine each while Schnobel and freshman Kennosuke Nouchi each have six wins. In doubles, Heckman/Schnobel lead the team with a 7-2 record while Nouchi/Opitz are 3-1 this Fall.
