CLEVELAND – Western Michigan sophomore midfielder Alyssa Burke has been named Mid-American Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the women's soccer team's sweep of Bowling Green and Toledo last week.
Against the Falcons she netted the first goal of the game to give the Broncos an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. She fired off four total shots and landed three on net as WMU beat BGSU 4-3.
In Sunday's 4-3 win she again got the scoring started, giving WMU the lead in the 11th minute. She followed that up with the game-winning goal in the 78th minute for her first collegiate two-goal game. The six points on the weekend pushed her atop of the team scoring chart with a career-high 14 points this season on four goals and six assists.
Western Michigan is back at home for its regular season finale on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Northern Illinois.
