"This weekend was great from a competitive perspective," head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "All eight players got a handful of quality matches. I think we are learning a lot about this team from our fall schedule up to this point. I am excited about our development thus far. We were 7-7 this weekend in doubles and 13-7 in singles. This was our toughest weekend of competition to date. We will continue to work and get better."
Kuhle/Lyubomirova defeated the No. 5 ranked doubles team in the nation on Saturday, but fell to the No. 24 ranked team of Kwong/Vias from Illinois Sunday morning by a score of 8-2 in the quarterfinals.
At the Indiana Regional, senior Barbare improved to 9-0 this season with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Marta Ruedas-Burgos of Purdue to claim the Flight Three Championship. On the other side of the bracket, sophomore Denise Azcui defeated Erin Rodriguez of Miami to win the consolation final. Senior Meika Ashby and freshman Gabriela Slavova each earned wins in the round robin draw.
