Kuhle/Lyubomirova defeated Kowase/Sanford of Ohio State 8-7 to open the day; they are one of eight teams to still be alive in the bracket. At 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Broncos doubles team will face Kwong/Vias of Illinois, the No. 25 ranked team in the nation. Kuhle/Lyubomirova improved to 6-1 with the win on Saturday to go along with the pair of wins they earned on Friday.
In the Main Draw singles, Lyubomirova earned an early win over Switkes of Illinois to advance to the round of 32, but dropped her second match of the day to the No. 13-16 seed Najarian from Michigan. Kuhle fell in her only singles match of the day to Or from Northwestern while Olivia Myers, who earned a spot into the Main Draw as an alternate, also fell in her only match of the day.
At the Indiana Regional where the rest of the squad competed, the Broncos finished 3-1 in singles play and 2-2 in doubles. In singles, senior Barbare Eristavi improved her perfect record to 8-0 this season with a win while senior Meika Ashby and sophomore Denise Azcui each earned wins as well. In doubles, the duos of Ashby/freshman Gabriela Slavova and Eristavi/Azcui each went 1-1 on the day.
If Kuhle/Lyubomirova win on Sunday, they will have another match in the semifinals. A loss would send the Broncos home. The rest of the team will finish up play at the Indiana Regional.
