COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Western Michigan men's tennis finished up play at the ITA Midwest Regionals on Saturday after an impressive showing. Junior Maik Steiner moved to the Round of 16 in the Main Draw singles while two doubles teams were able to move on to the Round of 16 as well.

Steiner opened the day with a win over Small of Notre Dame to move onto the Round of 16, where he fell to the talented Julian Childers of Illinois. Both senior Matt Hamilton and sophomore Matej Svjetlicic earned wins in the consolation singles round.
In doubles play, the duo of junior Billy Heckman/sophomore Nick Schnobel opened the day with an 8-5 win over Notre Dame's Broadus/Small, but lost in the Round of 16 to Valpo's Emhardt/Schorsch. Steiner/freshman Jannik Opitz earned an 8-4 win over Wisconsin's Sprecher/Sweet, but also lost their match in the Round of 16, this time to No. 55 ranked Emhardt/Schorsch of Valpo. Senior Daniel Loebel/Hamilton fell in the Round of 32.
The Broncos return to action next weekend as they host the MAC Invite starting on Friday, Oct. 28 and running through Sunday, Oct. 30.
