EAST LANSING, Mich./ BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Tracy Kuhle and sophomore Melina Lyubomirova of the Western Michigan women's tennis team went 2-0 in doubles at the ITA Midwest Regionals Friday afternoon; the duo will face No. 4 seeded Kowase/Sanford of Ohio State on Saturday for a trip to the quarterfinals. The rest of the Broncos competed in the Indiana Regional tournament, finishing with a 3-1 record in singles play.

The day started with one round of the qualifying singles draw, where junior Olivia Myers needed one win to earn a spot in the Main Draw, but she fell in hard-fought match to the No. 7 seed.
In doubles play, Kuhle/Lyubomirova, who were named the MAC Doubles Team of Week for four consecutive weeks last season, earned an 8-6 win over Lommer/Hall of Michigan in the Round of 64 before topping No. 13-16 seeded Faulkner/Nguyen of Michigan State in the Round of 32. The team of Myers/sophomore Katja Fevralev also opened their day with an 8-6 win in doubles, but dropped their second match of the day.
At the Indiana Regional tournament, senior Barbare Eristavi stayed perfect at 7-0 with a win, senior Meika Ashby moved to 6-1 and freshman Gabriela Slavova also earned a win in singles play. In doubles play, the team of Ashby/Slavova earned a win over the No. 1 seed from Northwestern.
The Main Draw of singles will get started with two rounds on Saturday, where Kuhle and Lyubomirova will compete. The rest of the team will also be competing in day two of the Indiana Regional.
