YPSILANTI, Mich. – Led by senior Amy Littlefield, the Western Michigan cross country team competed in the EMU Fall Classic on Friday afternoon, the team's final race before the postseason begins with the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Kent, Ohio.

"Today was important for a few people as we were trying to determine the last spots for the MAC Championship roster," head coach Taryn Sheehan said. "The conditions were sloppy to say the least, so it was a good physical test for entire group. Despite the conditions we still came away with a few personal bests. We definitely have to sharpen a few things over the next few weeks but I'm looking forward to the group coming together."

Kira Garry, who ran unattached, won the race with a time of 17:22.6 while runners from Michigan State and Michigan rounded out the top-three.

Littlefield, a Dundee High School product, finished in 37^th place with a time of 19:00.4 to lead the team. Freshman Holly Blowers, who led the team at the Michigan Intercollegiates, finished in 41^st with a personal record time of 19:05.2. Freshman Haley Ritsema (55^th), sophomore Makenzie Evers (56^th) and freshman Sydney Del Valle (64^th) rounded out the Broncos top-five.

Other finishers include freshman Abigail Shaver (68^th), freshman Brittney Hall (69^th), freshman Autumn Lewis, who finished with a personal record time of 20:39.7, freshman Katie Menke (80^th), freshman Mattie Goodwin (86^th), sophomore Emily Davis (87^th) and freshman Yadira Rodriguez (90^th), who also set a new personal record.

WMU will run in the MAC Championships next weekend at Kent State. At last year's meet, the Broncos earned their highest finish at the race since 2003.
