COLUMBUS, Ohio – With the Main Draw of singles at the ITA Midwest Regionals getting started on Friday, junior Maik Steiner will be moving on after he earned a tough 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 win over No. 15 seeded Jason Seidman of Northwestern. Along with Steiner moving on in singles, all three doubles teams earned a win to move on to the Round of 32.

The day got started with the final round of the qualifying draw, where senior Daniel Loebel, sophomore Eric Olivarez and freshman Jannik Opitz were all looking for one win to make the Main Draw, but all three fell in the early matches. In the Main Draw, Senior Matt Hamilton fell to Zordani of Wisconsin while sophomore Matej Svjetlicic dropped his match to No. 6 seeded Joyce of Ohio State.
In doubles play, the duo of junior Billy Heckman/sophomore Nick Schnobel were the first to earn a win, defeating Toledo's Anzalone/Teatsorth 8-5. The team of No. 14 seeded Steiner/Opitz earned an 8-3 win over Notre Dame's Griffin/Kempin while Hamilton/Loebel earned an 8-7 (5) win over Budic/Kovacevic of Illinois late Friday night.
There will be two rounds of each the Main Draw singles and doubles draws on Saturday as the tournament starts to wind down.
