KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan cross country team will take part in the EMU Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 21 at 4:30 p.m., the team's final race before the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29.

"This race will be a great opportunity for some of our student-athletes to earn a spot on the MAC Championship roster," associate head coach Taryn Sheehan said. "I am continually impressed with the strong work ethic and camaraderie of this group of women and I am excited to see what the next month ahead brings."
Last week at the Pre-National Invitational, the Broncos earned a 16th place finish in the 6k White Race. Hanne Christensen finished in 25th place to lead the team with a PR time of 21:48.8. It was the third time this season the junior led the team out of the five races. Sophomore Sarah Anderson finished in 40th with a time of 22:13.8, making it the fourth time this season Christensen/Anderson have finished top-two on the team. Senior Daya Wagh finished third on the team with an 85th place finish and a time of 22:55.0. Freshmen Kirstin McGahan and Haley Ritsema each finished the race with PR times as well.
WMU will head to Kent, Ohio for the MAC Championships next week and will compete in the NCAA Regionals in Madison, Wis., on Nov. 11.
