COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan hockey freshman forward Wade Allison has been named the Bauer Hockey National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week after his performance in WMU's win and tie over No. 20 Bowling Green.

This is the second Rookie of the Week award for the Broncos this season, after goalie Ben Blacker earned the honors last week after his performance in the sweep of No. 20 Ferris State. Allison netted two goals in Friday's 4-4 tie at Bowling Green, including the game-tying goal midway through the third period. It was the first two-goal game of his young career.

The Myrtle, Manitoba, native also had a big impact in Saturday's 8-2 thrashing of the Falcons. He tallied his first collegiate assist on, what ended up being, the game-winning goal by Chris Dienes in the first period. He then helped set up a goal by Matheson Iacopelli that completed Iacopelli's hat trick.

Through four games this season, the Philadelphia Flyers draft pick leads the team with five points on three goals and two assists.

WMU is off this weekend but opens up NCHC play next weekend at Denver. The Broncos are home next on Nov. 4 and 5 against the Miami RedHawks. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX or online at wmubroncos.com.
