TOLEDO, Ohio/ TULSA, Okla. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team stayed busy this weekend, as a large part of the team was sent to the Toledo Rocket Invitational and four players were sent to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American in Tulsa, Okla.
At the ITA All-American, which features the best of the best tennis players from around the country, senior Matt Hamilton, junior Maik Steiner and sophomore Matej Svjetlicic all earned a win in the Pre-Qualifying round to advance to the round of 128, but all three were defeated in their second match. Senior Daniel Loebel dropped his first match of the day.

At the Toledo Rocket Invitational, sophomore Eric Olivarez and freshman Jannik Opitz each improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season in singles. Freshman Kennosuke Nouchi suffered his first loss of the season, but avenged the loss with win later in the day to improve to 5-1. Sophomore Kris Knof went 2-1 on the day, thus improving to 5-2 this season.
In doubles play, the duo of Nick Schnobel and Billy Heckman earned a win to improve to 5-0 this season while the team of Opitz/Nouchi went 2-0 on the day to move to 3-1 overall.
The Broncos will finish up the Toledo Rocket Invitational on Sunday, while the duo of Hamilton/Steiner will represent WMU in the ITA All-American doubles draw on Monday.
